Getting started with your blog/website? Want to make money from your blog? Then continue reading till the end.

You don’t need to be a pro before you start making money from your new blog. Yes. As a newbie to the stuff, it can be quite difficult to determine where to start. You hear people making money from their blog and you keep wondering how.

There’s a popular wrong saying that once you click on a blogger’s website, they earn some little money immediately. It doesn’t work that way.

In this guide on how to make money from your blog for newbies, I will show you how bloggers make money from their blog and how you can also make your first $100 from your new or existing blog.

$100 doesn’t sound like a lot of dough. I know. But this is just the beginning. As you learn the ropes of making money blogging, you can level-up and earn as much as you did want.

How to Make Money With Your Blog as a Beginner

Let me quickly remind you that making money from your blog doesn’t happen overnight. After setting up your blog, you need to build readers who trust you and drive regular traffic to your blog before you can start earning from your blog.

The colorful bloggers’ lifestyle you see on Instagram, Facebook etc. is attached with a lot of hard work done in the past. So ensure you put into practice, whatever you learn regarding blogging.

As a beginner in the blogging world, it is almost certain you’re not getting tons of traffic to your blog yet. So what’s the idea here? Start small and build the size of your blog from there.

Start by setting a realistic goal of $100, this would motivate you. Don’t set a larger goal as a big dreamer because this would seem too far out of reach and you might get demotivated over time. By the time you achieve your first goal, you must have learned what fits into your blog and what doesn’t and then use what you’ve learned to make more money.

There are multiple ways you can make money from your blog. Give me a moment to explain.

  1. Sell eBooks

If you want to sell your own stuff, an eBook is an ideal way of getting started.

Don’t get too excited! An eBook is not a novel. You know right? You can create an eBook on any topic but it is best you understand your blog audience and let your eBook be on a topic that is relevant to your readers. Most bloggers set their eBook price between $5 – $40. Research shows that most eBooks sold online are within this price range.

Take “The Healthy Mummy” for example:

After writing your eBook, don’t just sit and expect sales to occur automatically. Tell the world you got something for them. Promote your product on relevant Facebook groups, Instagram, Pinterest, and other places. Don’t ever be shy to let people know you have something for sale.

  1. Freelance Writing

One way to prove you can write is owning a blog and writing articles thereon. If you can’t write well, or don’t enjoy writing, you will find it difficult to enjoy writing as a career, and harder to a breakthrough in the blogging industry.

If you have good writing skill, start be selling your services to potential clients online. Don’t just tell your potential clients you can write; show them you can write by presenting your blog to them to read and evaluate whether to work with you or not. You don’t need to sit around and do nothing. Don’t start your blog on a subdomain such as “,, or”. If this is what you’ve been doing, then cut it.

To show your clients you are serious about your career online, you need to own your own domain ( for example).

As I always say, don’t forget to promote your writing services via your social media accounts, your blog and other networks of friends you have.

  1. Affiliate Marketing

Do you think I wouldn’t talk about the most popular way bloggers make money from their blog? No of course! Affiliate marketing has been in existing even before the 2000’s kids were conceived. Affiliate marketing doesn’t require you to own any product or offer any type of services. Just own your blog and you are set for the task and profits attached to it.

As an affiliate marketer, all you are required to do is promote other people’s products/services on your blog. The moment someone makes a purchase of any of the products, you are automatically given a certain percentage from the sales. Sounds awesome right?

So where do you find these affiliate programs? When you browse online, you will see thousands of affiliate programs online but most beginners like you and even professionals sign up for the Amazon affiliate program. After signing up with your details, you can start posting links within your blog contents and earn passively when someone clicks on it and actually purchases an item from Amazon. Some products can give you up to $30 as an instant commission for a successful sale.

You may also consider using Commission Junction. They pay high too.

ShareASale is another affiliate site to look up:

Please note that to make money from affiliate programs, your blog needs to get readers who will actually click your links and probably make a purchase too.

  1. Online Course

Aside from selling eBooks, you can also present online courses on your blog for a specific price. Most often, bloggers who sell eBooks expand that same eBook topic to an online course.

Just like I explained regarding eBooks, you can also create an online course on any topic you are most comfortable with; a topic you can you can teach someone anytime, anywhere.

Let’s say, for example, you own a food blog, you can decide to create an online course on food recipes, how to cook certain meals etc.

If you own a relationship blog, you can create and sell online courses on how to manage long-distance relationships, relationship issues, and much more.

If you’re running a fashion blog, you can opt to sell online courses on fashion tips, making new fashion designs, etc.

You can sell your online course at a price higher than e-books. Setting a price for your online course is dependent on how knowledgeable you are on the course.

I have seen short course sold at $19.9, some for $99.9. Some high professionals sell courses as high as $995.

Always endeavor to research courses sold in your niche to know what the average selling price is. Don’t underprice or overprice your course. Always test different prices to see what works best for you and your potential customers.

David’s blog on “Rise to the Top” has some course costing up to $997:

  1. Google AdSense

AdSense is owned by Google. It is an advertising platform used by bloggers in making money from their blog even as a beginner.

Basically, all you have to do is sign up for their Ad services. This would let google display adverts on your blog and you get paid whenever the ad is being viewed or clicked on. You have the choice to choose how many adverts you want to display on your blog and where you want them to display.

One thing I like about this Google AdSense is, it shows only ads that are relevant to your readers and this is dependent on the content on your blog and your reader’s browsing history.

The more traffic your site gets, the more likely your income will increase.

Don’t’ forget to share your blog contents to people on every platform.

So that’s it. These are real methods of making $100+ from your blog. There is no rule that says you must do all the above-listed methods of making money at once. You can actually do all on your blog but it is advisable to start one-at-a-time.

Just pick any method that appeals to you more and also looks doable to you.
